Dr Juliette Harris
Dr Juliette Harris is a Principal Registered Genetic Counsellor, EMCC-accredited coach with a PhD in Human Genetics. She has over 20 years’ experience helping individuals and families living with, or at risk of, inherited and complex health conditions.
Working alongside Professor Anand Saggar at The International Gene Clinic, Juliette offers specialist support to people both with and without a confirmed genetic diagnosis. Drawing on her background in clinical genetics and coaching, she works with those who are coming to terms with a diagnosis, living with uncertainty, considering genetic testing, navigating complex healthcare systems, or trying to understand the impact of their symptoms on everyday life. Her approach is calm, practical and supportive, helping people make sense of their situation, think through their options, make informed decisions and feel more confident managing their health, whether they have received a diagnosis, are undergoing investigations or are still seeking answers.
Experience and Professional Background
Juliette has extensive experience in clinical genetics in both the United States and the UK, including within NHS Clinical Genetics Services and specialist multidisciplinary teams. She has worked with people affected by rare and inherited conditions, including Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, inherited cardiac conditions and aortopathies.
Alongside her clinical work, Juliette’s research explores new approaches to supporting individuals following a diagnosis, including how coaching-based methods can be integrated into healthcare settings. She has published and presented widely on self-advocacy, adjustment to diagnosis and patient-centred care, and has developed patient resources to support self-advocacy.
Juliette also works closely with genetic and rare disease charities, supporting initiatives that improve patient information, self-advocacy and access to support.
